ACUPUNCTURE: Medicine of Energy

Acupuncturist is curing his patients by influencing the circulation and distribution of the body’s vital energy, called “Qi”. Qi is the source of all movement, from muscular contractions to the circulation of blood. Furthermore, Qi warms the body and protects it from external and harmful pathogens. Qi circulates in the body along channels, or pathways, called meridians. Along each meridian there are specific acupuncture points, and each point has its own unique therapeutic functions. A harmonious circulation of Qi in the body brings good health. If the circulation is disrupted, it causes pain or organic dysfunctions leading to illness. Inserting needles into acupuncture points allows to reestablish the circulation of Qi and, consequently, to restore health.
Acupuncture believes in “Holistic approach “ – the acupuncturist evaluates the overall strengths and weaknesses of each individual. Knowledge of a person’s background allows the treatment of not only symptoms of the illness, but also its causes.

Acupuncture has passed the test of time. A branch of the Traditional Chinese Medicine, practiced for over 4,000 years, it is now officially recognized by the World Health Organization Since July 1995, the profession of acupuncture has been regulated by l’Ordre des acupuncteurs du Québec.
