What
is Stott Pilates (Pi-lah-teez)
Similar to yoga, Pilates is a system of stretching,
breathing, and toning. Created by Joseph H. Pilates
in the 1920s, the technique was designed to help
rehabilitate patients that were bedridden during
the war. He then brought his technique to New
York where it became popular with dancers to allow
them to exercise without aggravating an injury
or building bulk. |
 |
Stott Pilates is a contemporary, anatomically
based approach to Pilates’ original teachings,
developed by company co-founder Moira Stott-Merrithew
in collaboration with physical therapists and
sports medicine professionals, to make it safe
and effective for everyone. |
